The great kilt, belted plaid (“played”), or fèileadh mòr is the original, historic kilt. The most utilitarian article of clothing. It can be wrapped up over you to keep you warm. Use it as a blanket at night, or as a tent to keep you dry. When you’re ready to get on the move you just belt it up and wear it. It even has built in pockets and a backpack!
You can choose any tartan you like (subject to availability and it must be double-width).
Price is $375 for a 5-yard tartan. 5 yards is enough for most. If you require more yardage then it’s an additional $75/yard. The ends of the tartan are fringed 1″ to 1-1/2″, and the selvage is left intact.
