I started participating in the highland games athletic events in 2019. Sadly I don’t have any photos from back then. Everything was understandably canceled in 2020 & 2021. Then in 2022 I planned to attend one but had some last minute plans change. So 2023 was the year of the return.
In the 2023 Albany Scottish Festival I surprised myself with a strong showing in the sheaf toss event. I went into it feeling completely unprepared so I was just going to practice my technique. I came out of it with a personal record of 20′ and a tie for 1st place in the event! This victory really made up for the weak 6th place showing in weight for distance and helped me land a 3rd place overall in the Masters 50+ division.
